Somewhat disappointed with induction
Runnergirl67
12/1/2019
We ended up with the Induction Model after a recall on our standard cooktop-overall we are not as satisfied with the induction. The burner configuration is not as versatile, the standard had five burners in which, at least two had the capability of adjusting the burner size. Also, the induction sometimes shuts off when you first turn it on, this may happen several times before the burner stays on. The induction is easier to clean and keep clean.

The Most Amazing Cooktop
Clay513
10/29/2019
I had never before used an induction cooktop. After reading a review in Consumer Reports I discovered that the most efficient cooktops were "induction." I was going to get a gas cooktop before I read the article. Gas is the most inefficient cook top. We have just moved into a home built in 1962 that had its original appliances, so we had to replace them. I chose Kitchenaid because of its good reputation. This cooktop is amazing. I can heat a pot of tea in only 3 minutes. As soon as I turn the "burner" off the kettle stops singing. Everything cooks faster with induction. Also, I seem to have better control with the heat. You can even heat milk or chocolate without scorching. Amazing!

Frequent Malfunctioning

10/18/2019
We purchased this cooktop about a year and a half ago. We have just had it repaired for the 4th time. The error code that comes up is F47, two burners go out, and it requires the motherboard to be replaced. The first two errors happened in less than a year and we were told that Kitchen Aid will not replace the unit unless it happened three times in that year. We purchased the extended warranty, so thankfully we are not having to cover these costs. But it is very frustrating clearly having a defective unit, and the company keeps putting bandaids on the problem. We just got off the phone to make sure the cook ware we use is compatible, and it is. They said we will need to wait for it to break again before we have a discussion about future solutions. I just want people buying this to know what our experience had been so they can make an informed decision when they shop.

This is my second Kitchen Aid Induction cooktop. There is no better way to cook. Unfortunately, I twice broke the glass at the edge/corner and I believe the new model with the stainless edge will be more durable. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that the touch controls are a bit cumbersome to get set precisely where you may wish. Great appliance!!

Broke down a week after installation
Unhappy_customer0
7/5/2019
Bought in May 2019 and was really enjoying the induction cooking experience for a week... Then the cooktop failed.
Contacted customer support and was expecting a technician to show up within 10 am - 4 pm window. Nobody came. After multiple calls to customer support was informed that nobody will be coming since there was nothing they could help us with since the spare parts were backordered. What? They haven't even seen my cooktop but they already know that they don't have a spare part for it! Do they know exactly what's wrong with my cooktop since these cooktops have a built in flaw?! Really disappointed. Picked Kitchen Aid over Samsung and LG because of supposedly superior customer service. What customer service? It's a joke. I have been calling customer service for the past three weeks and been treated as an annoyance. I was not given even an approximate timeframe within which my cooktop will be repaired. Instead I was offered to purchase an extended warranty. Why would I purchase any kind of warranty from a company that can't even honour the first year manufacturer's warranty. This is unacceptable for such an expensive product. A true disappointment.

F47 error! Poor design
RAZZLE1
6/2/2019
I, as so many others, have been plagued with the f47 error. We bought the unit about two years ago. F47 popped up three times in a little over a year. They replaced the power supply board as it was blowing a fuse if not burning out chips on the board. Kitchenaid did give us a totally new unit in October of last year. I also had an electrician come out to inspect the wiring to ensure no issues. All was well until a month ago when once again f47 came up. This is nothing more then poor power supply design. It's seeing spikes but proper protection and reset features are not designed in. With $100 or so a pop with each repair even with warranty, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to completely walk away and explore buying a totally different brand induction. With a $2k purchase price, it's an unbelievable situation. I just wish with the clear history of this issue going back across so many customers, kitchenaid would promptly redesign this model.

Equipment failure on 2 new cooktops(same model)
Samnkaren
2/24/2019
We are very, very disappointed in KitchenAid and their product: KICU509XSS as we've two brand new units fail for the very same reason. It's the largest element of the right side that fails and trips the breaker with a very loud/sharp noise, then it immediately offers up a "F47" code. This indicates a major failure thus both units are then inoperative on the right side of the cooktop. I would appreciate a call from KitchenAid explaining to me why they couldn't/wouldn;t classify this as an immediate "red flag" and quickly needs addressed. I see numerous reviews for this very same model number having the very same issues that we've incurred. I really don't appreciate the number of "hoops" that we have to jump thru to try to converse with someone either!!!!

Love Induction Cooking!
Stephaniej

This induction cooktop is unbelievable. I live in a high-rise condo so we have no choice but to use an electric stove. On my old stove which was only 4 years old, you could grow old waiting for the water to boil and if you were making pasta, it rarely came to a full boil. This KitchenAid induction cooktop boils a pot of water in under 2 minutes to a rolling boil. I also love that it cools down quickly once you turn it off or remove the pot. Still getting used to the sensitive controls, but I love cooking on it. They say it's better than cooking with gas. I knew I wanted an induction cooktop when I renovated my kitchen. I had to have the area rewired to accommodate the separate cooktop, wall oven and microwave, but it was definitely worth it.

Replaced a traditional cooktop with this induction one and couldn't be happier. There is a bit of a learning curve to go from radiant heat to induction primarily because things heat up much faster. Love the fact you turn the setting lower and the effect is immediate. Should have switched earlier!!!

Cooktop is not recommeded
Mike J
11/26/2018
I would not recommend this cooktop to others. The cooktop has blown out the board 4 times in less than 10 months of use. It's the same issue as other reviews. Putting the largest burner in boost mode trips breaker and results in F47 error.
I've taken out extended warranty as I have zero confidence the next repair (waiting to get it fixed again) will fix the problem long term. The warranty repair technician has tried to get a new unit or replacement cookware to try any other means to solve problem, but has thus far KitchenAid has recommended to continue to fix the same unit.
The cooktop itself is visually very nice, and cleans well. After 10 months of use, it shines like brand new. The induction is a bit loud (never had one before, maybe it's normal). It buzzes on and off while cooking. The exhaust fan drowns the buzz out, but it is audible throughout the kitchen w/o fan on.
The fridge, double ovens, and dishwasher we replaced with KitchenAid at same time as cooktop have all been working well with no complaints.

The worst cooktop ever!

I had this cook top installed in my newly built home 2 years ago. Since then, it has completely failed twice. If you use more than 2 of the 4 burners at the same time it blows out and will not work at all! Service is a long and arduous process. Of the 2 years I've live here I have been without a working cook top for 4 months, and still counting, because it's now been out for 7 weeks, I've had 3 service appointments, STILL not working. Next appointment Dec. 10, 2018. This will be a GREAT Thanksgiving.

Infamous F47 error code
J May
11/8/2018
I bought the 30' induction cooktop model KICU509XBL less than 2 years ago and have encountered the same issue as many of the other low reviews have, a blown thermal fuse when using the boost feature causing the F47 Error Code. This cooktop continuously trips my breaker when trying to heat a large pot of anything and twice has blown the thermal fuse requiring a completely new board. Customer service claims they have no one to help me with technical issues. They also claim that this is not a known issue, even though many reviews cite this as a problem.

Lasted less than a year and control panel replaced originally under warranty: Large burner popped while using boost setting, first time I tried to use after repair. apparently this is a known issue. Kitchen quality has really gone downhill. We paid for an upgraded appliance and feel it was a big mistake. Induction sounded like a great idea but I long for the dependability of older technology. 3 out of 6 appliances had had issues since we bought the house.

I received all my KitchenAid appliances (about 13,000$) 4 months ago and my KICU509XBL induction 30" cook-top has already failed to function (error code F47). The technician just left and informed us that the cook-top has to be replaced; that is everything under the ceramic/glass top! Not very impressed for a 2000$ + tax product. Once replaced, I would expect from KitchenAid to extend the warranty on their behalf!

We had a Kitchenaid Induction stove with dual oven for about one year but then sold the house. Our new home had a gas range with detached wall oven. Nice appliances but not Kitchenaid and not Induction. After two months we missed our Induction cooktop too much.
This is the only way to cook with precise temperature control and almost immediate cooking ability.
Thank you Kitchenaid for a wonderful product!

Feedback

Year and a half ago we replaced our kitchen appliances with the new ones made by the Kitchen Aid. They all look very nice and overall we are pleased with our purchase except for induction cooktop. Within first several months it broke three times! Kitchen Aid replaced it with a new one, which worked for about 9 months and broke again. We had it repaired just last week and today it broke again!!!! Same thing and we see the same error others described F47. Called customer service and only heard that they are sorry but are not responsible for my dissatisfaction with my purchase...
There is something really wrong with this particular appliance. Do not purchase!

I bought this induction cook top based on the configuration of burners, and trust in the kitchenaid brand. Burner Placement

We bought all Kitchen Aid appliances back in 2014 when we had our kitchen remodeled. We choose the induction, which is great but the placement of the elements are poor spacing. I cannot put 2 medium size pans side by side at the same time. I do wish the spacing was different. Since there is only one layout one has no options other then a regular electric cook top. Over all we like the cook top just not the placement of the elements for different pan size. Thank you

Love Kitchenaid products but this is junk. Purchased Dec 2015, has been serviced 5 times, last one Oct 31 2017 and part installed Jan 25 2018. While testing it failed again so still not fully functional. The F47 error happens when you use the boost function. Beautiful cooktop, but only as an ornament as it takes a long time to get the parts needed. Every time serviced entire piece was replaced except the black cooktop. Wanted to love it but just can't. Waiting to hear back now as to what the extended warranty company, Warrantec is going to do. Ugh!

I purchased this cooktop as a group of entirely new appliance. A very expensive purchase. I had spent the last year planning my new kitchen renovation. I purchased the appliances, but did not have them installed immediately (of course we were not on schedule). The cooktop was installed in Mid-November, by the second week of January the largest burner was not operating. I called Kitchen aid and the best they will do is send me to someone for service. This cooktop should have been replaced. By the time the service gets accomplished, I will have a broken cooktop for close to a month. And then . . . who knows if it will continue working. I'll never buy appliances from this company again.

Less Than Two Years and Needs Expensive Repair
MD68
12/12/2017
We purchased this cooktop two years ago and it already needs a repair that will cost close to the price of purchasing a new one. RIDICULOUS! Two burners on the right side are blown and from what I understand we need to replace one of the three power boards. We'll see, could be more to it. So disappointed. For the price we paid and the technology I was hoping for a product that would last at least 10 years like my old GE cooktop.

I have now had this cooktop 2 1/2 years. I LOVE it! I can't love it enough, seriously. When I decided to go "induction," I was very reluctant. EVERYONE said GAS! Except, my friend who is an avid cook. She was RIGHT! It heats up in an instant. Cools off quickly...and best of all, there is no heat that escapes beyond the pan that you use. That means, no burnt fingers..and no wasted energy, no HOT kitchen. My only wish is that prices would come down so that everyone can afford an induction stove. It truly is amazing!

I have had to have 4 service calls on this cooktop. So far we've replaced the generator, the control board twice and the large burner. This has tied up 4 days between diagnosing the problems and getting it repaired twice. I regret purchasing this and the other kitchen aid appliances. And on top of it all you can't see the burner location and other controls as they are barely visible.

It came from the builder when we bought the house 2 years ago. Now possible fuse broken. I guess that is why they only warranty it for 1 year, they know that it's not going to last long. Part with shipping cost around $85 +. Repair is ridiculously priced. Just find another brand that would last longer.

Beautiful and Easy to use Cooktop!
7/16/2017
Bought the full suite of products, and love the induction cooktop! Easy to use, and love the fact that I can use cast iron (and all induction cookware) on top of a silpat! Prevents scratches, and makes clean up a breeze. It does tend to run hotter on the settings, but that's an easy adjustment. It's allowed me to get reacquainted with my cast iron. The cookware does need to be induction ready, other pans won't work. It did take me awhile to figure it all out, but instructions are great.

We have had this cooktop since March 2017 and couldn't be more happy. The boost feature makes boiling water a snap. The ability to instantly control the heat is as good as gas. Clean up is as easy as it gets on the glass top. We also purchased some Kitchenaid cookware and have not heard any buzzing noises. If you are thinking about induction don't hesitate to get it.
