light bulb takes out electric control

Have owned the microwave for 2.5 years. Was great till this morning when the light bulb blew when turning on the light with the light switch on the panel. When replacing the bulb, the replacement blew immediately when installing, switch was off. The second replacement bulb stayed on even though the light switch was in off position. After researching on internet, seems the light bulb blowing can take out the electronic panel. Poor design! The replacement panel costs as much as a new microwave, and that's without any labor charges. Will look for other brand as replacement unless someone from Maytag cares enough to help on this one.

Mine was purchased from my builder whenever my house was built and they work fine the microwave worked fine until one day I noticed the plastic film on the inside of the door started melting and the word "door" pops up on the LCD panel about every other time you use, i have to open the door and slam it to get the microwave to work this microwave is right at three years old and no one wants to help me as far as warranty work I have called Maytag I've called the store that they purchased it from and basically i get "go buy another one sorry thank you very much" and for the french door refrigerator the handle on the bottom freezer drawer after 3 years of opening the handle gets wore and will not stay tight so it just flops up and down, im sure eventually it will break off if i dont do something about it. so I think Maytag/Whirlpool has the potential to have some good stuff however their warranty sucks and their appliances need to last longer than 3-4 years

Problem with door latch

This microwave was given to me as a gift. After about 1 year of normal use, there would be an occasional delay in the interior light turning on when opening the door. Eventually the light stopped turning on at all and the microwave would give a "door" message when pushing any buttons, preventing its use. It basically seems to think the door now is always open and of course cannot be used.. I am now waiting for a serviceman to come and look at it.

I bought this microwave a month ago and it is has worked well. Plus it was easy to install. I boughtthis brand because the last two microwaves I had, the door handle and door cracked. So this one seemed like a sturdier door handle and door. We shall see if it truly holds up! So far so good.

I bought this microwave 2 months ago to replace one that broke. It was easy to switch one to another, and we are very satisfied with the new one. I didn't give it 5 stars because the buttons are hard to push, and the beep for the timer is not long enough, but those are very minor items.

A bought this appliance about a month ago mainly for the 10 year warranty feature and it's performed well so far. A word to the wise If you plan on installing it yourself and you need to change the fan rotation from recirculation to a wall exit application, the instructions tell you to simply remove the screws and rotate the fan assembly 180 degrees. But they fail to mention that you have to unplug the motor connections and rotate the fan housing and then reconnect the wiring. I don't really like the pre-sets for example when you press the popcorn you have put in what size bag you will be using.

Installed this about 6 weeks ago. It does what I need it too, but was disappointed to realize it doesn't have the feature that allows you to just enter "1" and then it runs for 1 minute. My previous microwave did. I use mostly for reheating and melting. I find that other than the popcorn presets, the others aren't very accurate and I"m better off just entering my own amount of time and power(for melting butter or reheating a plate).

We replaced an old unit and once we get used to the new one we are sure it will be fine.The only improvement you could make is add small lights to show when the fan is on, since it is so quiet , us older people do not hear it running without our hearing aids.
