great, but presoak is not quite what i thought

I bought this about a month ago and finding issues with the presoak. How much water should be in the machine with presoak? we are finding that our machine is only putting enough water to cover the bottom, and a bit of splashing on top. I would think that presoak would have all the clothes in the water and soaking, hence the name "presoak". Do I have a malfunction on hand? what is everyone elses experience with presoak? Thanks!

I have three major complaints against this machine:
1. The "deep water wash" is a lie. the water level is never visible beneath the clothes. therefore the soap is never completely rinsed out of our clothes and the dirt is probably never removed either. No Water=No Washing
2. the auto load balance feature does not work. the machine will give up after a while and leave the load still saturated. (with soapy dirty water of course). and because the machine is so smart it will not allow me to open the lid to manually balance it, the lock remains in effect for a LONG LONG time after the machine has stopped spinning. as a result we broke the latch out of exasperation trying to get the lid open. Cheap Parts+Angry User=Broken Parts
3. the drain and spin feature for some inexplicable reason, begins by pouring water onto the clothes you are trying to dry. this leads me to believe that none of the settings on the dial mean anything. obviously deep water wash does nothing the washer still begins every cycle by "sensing fill" and then adding too little water. (I know it uses less water because it is HE, but after following all directions and trying to override the autoload sensing, our clothes are still soapy! and no it is not the wrong type or amount of soap!) This machine is NOT highly efficient, it is highly frustrating and a tremendous waste of money. never get an appliance that thinks it is smarter than the user.

Very happy with my new washer. Does a great job, in quick time. Also like the fact that it has a very low agitator, which means I can do bigger loads at the same time. My comforter can be washed in this machine, so I no longer have to go to the laundromat for that.

I like the energy efficiency aspect of my washer; however, I miss having the ability to soak laundry overnight. The newer "soak" cycles do not hold water for extended periods of time to allow the consumer to start the washer when she or he is ready.
The other complaint I have is that it seems the washer gets out of balance rather easily. Aside from those complaints, I am happy with this product.

One month in and getting to like the washer's features. Particularly like the
absence of large central agitator which leaves lotsa room for bulky pieces like blankets, towels and sheets.

So far enjoying both the washer and dryer. Only problem is that there is not a container for the softener. Have to listen for the rinse cycle. Quieter than other Whirlpool washer.

Machine works fine ( first one not at all) but I prefer to be able to fill first, then add clothes. I have had stains (detergent stains) on clothes because u have to put clothes on top of detergent undissolved. Don't like computer can't stop without recycling entire cycle.

Have had this machine for about six months and no matter what settings I use the wash water level is completely inconsistent. Just tried the soak cycle for the first time, and get this... it drains your soak water out and now I have to add more detergent and start from scratch. How energy efficient is that? I have had several occasions where my clothes were still dry after the wash cycle, so now I have to babysit each load and add water from my sink to make sure it's enough water to actually clean the clothes.

I bought it a year ago and has broken down 5 times in that year by the way same problem every time the plastic conecting gear from gear box to washer tub strips out it is getting Ridiculous bought it from sears they have repaired it each time but takes sometimes a month for them to get parts

I have used my washer for one month. Occasionally in the spin cycle the washer get out of balance and make a terrible noise. I love the stainless steel tub. The profile of the tub looks nice with the dryer.

Ive only had the washer for a few weeks but I did a lot of research before buying. I'm a Whirlpool person. I had my last Whirlpool washer /Dryer for 25 years. I'm not a fan of the auto water sensing feature but that's on all new washers so
you can't avoid it. That said, it seems to add the right amount of water. I'm very happy with my washer. My clothes are clean, since it doesn't have an agitator, they aren't twisted. Leave the lid up after each load is done and you can avoid the oder some have mentioned. I am very happy with my washer!!

I bought the machine last month, the store deliver to my and installed, it operates smoothly, noise is low, but sometimes when spin, the voice is a little strong. the clothes can be washed very clearly, in all, this is a good product.

I've always had a washer with the middle tube inside and this one does not have it, there's so much room. I also like that I can wash my delicates without them being wrapped around the middle tube. I do not regret this purchase

This machine has a lot of great options, too bad you have to use deep water wash, double rinse for every single load. Even with that, and the absolute bare minimum of he detergent, all your clothes esp the dark ones cone out w white soap marks all over them. So I feel like they're not clean, and yet covered in soap. I wonder how 'efficient' it can be to have to run the machine & rinse your clothes 3+ times. Not to mention the damage being caused to your clothes by having to use a setting meant for heavy duty items like sheets on everything just to try to get them rinsed.
